Sustainability, Atkins University, and You

Whether you listen to the radio, watch TV, read technology magazines, or follow the fashion industry, you’ve probably noticed that green is everywhere, and sustainability is a household term. This holds especially true for those of us working in the engineering and construction industries.

As you probably discovered, environmentally friendly and ecologically responsible decisions and lifestyles begin with the pursuit of knowledge. Fortunately, Atkins University offers learning tools to help you go green, learn more about sustainable design, earn a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification, upgrade your credentials, and meet your required continuing education demands.

ONLINE GREEN COURSES

Atkins University partners with various vendors to provide online self-study courses on technical topics that are open to all employees.  PDHengineer and RedVector offer a variety of courses which can be found in our course catalog by searching for “LEED”, “green building”, or “sustainable”. Included in RedVector’s offerings are courses to assist you in upgrading your LEED credential to one of the specialty certifications.  Contact us to for more information on how to access these courses.

In addition to these courses, we have also partnered with the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) to provide access to over 30 online webinars. Additionally, USGBC plans to add two to three webinars every month to their library. These webinars are facilitated by project managers and subject matter experts, and focus on the best practices in sustainable building and LEED, as well as new technologies being used on LEED projects. To request access to the USGBC webinar events, submit a Help Desk ticket to the University.

Want to know the best part? All of these courses and webinars can be used to satisfy continuing education requirements, and increase your knowledge in sustainable design projects.
